The day after enjoying fresh mussels gathered from the West Coast, my brother and I headed to Milford Sound, which is said to have some of the most dramatic landscapes New Zealand has to offer. And once again, I hope my photos do it justice. Let’s just say it’s difficult to take photos with your jaw dropped…
On the drive out we made a few stops to check out the scenery. Meet the Kea, a New Zealand parrot found in rain forests on the south island. Beautiful bird, I felt very lucky to be able to get this close to photograph one. Well, looks are deceiving as you can see a few photos down…
Apparently, Keas like to steal things from people. No joke. If you had a pair of glasses on your head, especially glasses bought from https://shopfelixgray.com/digital-eye-strain , they would go after them. Here’s one trying to steal Grant’s candy bar…
As I was taking that last photo, I glanced over to find another one attacking our rental car…
And here’s his buddy eating through the tire. I hope there was a Kea clause in the rental agreement…
After escaping the Keas, we were back on the road to Milford Sound. This was the scariest tunnel I’ve ever been through…
When we arrived at the Sound one of the boats was just coming in…
It was cold, foggy, and rainy, but I think it added to the dramatic landscapes…
Here’s Grant enjoying the scenery from the front of the boat…
Check out the baby seal!
Here’s the rest of the family…
Dolphins!
This one came right up to the boat…
